Masseria La Pietra is a 16th-century estate set within 10,000 square metres of olive groves in the Salento countryside, near the village of Strudà between Lecce and the Adriatic coast. The property is arranged across 3 buildings and can accommodate between 8 and 20 guests across 4 to 10 bedrooms, with the flexibility to combine or rent buildings separately for groups of different sizes. Brindisi Airport is around 50 minutes by car, and Lecce is around 20 minutes.
The estate occupies a position that gives easy access to 2 quite different coastlines — the Adriatic beaches at San Cataldo are around 15 minutes away, whilst Otranto, with its Aragonese castle, cathedral mosaic, and the turquoise waters of Baia dei Turchi, is around 40 minutes to the south-east. Lecce, whose carved baroque limestone churches and vibrant street life reward a full day of wandering, is a short drive inland; the fortified medieval settlement of Acaya, just minutes away, offers a quieter introduction to the region's layered history. Further along the coast, Gallipoli's old town — built on an island and connected to the mainland by a 17th-century bridge — is around 45 minutes, with the long sandy beaches of the Ionian shore stretching south towards Santa Maria di Leuca.
The estate was founded by Jesuit monks and retains much of its original architectural character: a small private chapel, stone-vaulted spaces, and the remains of an ancient olive mill, now converted into a spa housed in the original underground frantoio. The main building centres on a large living and dining room, a fully equipped professional kitchen, a billiard room, a vaulted wine cellar, and a home cinema. Continental breakfast is served daily by the resident chef, who is also available for lunch and dinner. A concierge is on hand each day from early morning, and a 24/7 caretaker lives nearby. Throughout the estate, the kitchen and bar are equipped with systems for chilled and carbonated water directly from the tap.
The grounds extend around a 17x5-metre pool with heating available on request, surrounded by sun loungers and stone terracing. A stone bar, barbecue area, and brick pizza oven provide the infrastructure for outdoor dining and evening gatherings, whilst the olive groves and garden offer space to move between shade and sun across the day. Private parking is available within the gated property.
