Villa Ulivo is a restored early 20th-century Apulian estate set on a hilltop in the countryside of the Valle d'Itria, its 11,000 square metres of terraced gardens and ancient olive groves commanding panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. The property accommodates 18 guests across 9 individually designed bedrooms, each with its own distinctive architectural character. Brindisi Airport is around 50 minutes away, with Bari Airport approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes minutes by car.
The estate sits at the heart of one of Puglia's most rewarding corners — within easy reach of hilltop towns, baroque architecture, and some of the region's finest coastline. Cisternino, with its whitewashed lanes and trattorias serving roast meat from the traditional fornelli, is around 8 minutes by car; Ceglie Messapica, celebrated for its food culture and medieval old town, around 15 minutes; and Ostuni — the White City, its cathedral visible for miles across the valley — around 20 minutes. Martina Franca and Locorotondo are both within around 20 to 22 minutes, Alberobello's extraordinary trulli landscape around 30 minutes, and the coast at the nearest beach around 25 minutes, with the sandy bays of Torre Canne and Savelletri's beach clubs within comfortable reach for a day by the Adriatic.
The villa was built in 1914 and fully restored in 2024, its interiors drawing on the materials and craftsmanship of the Apulian countryside: sedimentary stone walls, hand-modelled rock surfaces, barrel-vaulted ceilings, and wooden beams run throughout, alongside high-quality furnishings in earthy tones and sumptuous fabrics. The lounge and wine cellar — its vaulted ceiling resting directly on the bedrock, with an excavated cellar housing 100 bottles — provides one of the property's most atmospheric spaces, equally suited to evening aperitivi, private tastings, and candlelit dinners. The fully equipped kitchen opens onto the outdoor areas and provides the base for chef service, which can be arranged on request.
At the summit of the terraced garden, the infinity pool, outdoor hot tub, and sauna are positioned to command views across the olive groves and the valley beyond. An outdoor kitchen with pizza oven and barbecue provides the setting for al fresco dining, and the gardens — planted with over 100 ancient olive trees alongside almond and pomegranate trees, sage, rosemary, and lavender — surround the terraces at every level. Chef service, wine and cheese tastings, massages, yoga, boat trips, private excursions, airport transfers, and vintage car hire can all be arranged.
