The Setting
Villa Rovere feels wonderfully removed from the modern world, set in a peaceful position where mature woodland opens onto views of the rolling Palaia hills. The setting is quiet and private, yet pleasantly practical, with the restaurants, cafés, shops and everyday amenities of Forcoli just a 10-minute drive away.
Much of the villa’s appeal comes from its place within a working agricultural and wine estate with documented origins dating back to 980 AD. Across the estate, woodland meets vineyards and established olive groves, continuing a long tradition of wine, organic olive oil and honey production.
Well placed between Pisa, Florence and Siena, Villa Rovere offers a convenient base for exploring historic towns and cities such as Lucca and Volterra before returning to the peace of its woodland surroundings.
The Living Spaces
The former hunting lodge has a distinctive architectural style, quite unlike a traditional Tuscan farmhouse. Its steeply pitched roof, symmetrical windows and painted exterior give it an individual character, while the interiors combine Tuscan influences with the atmosphere of a classic country house.
Inside, the rooms feel warm and carefully composed, with antique and period-style furniture, patterned fabrics, decorative lighting and framed mirrors. The overall mood is elegant yet relaxed, reflecting the history of the house without feeling overly formal.
The main living floor includes a comfortable sitting room, a separate dining room and a well-equipped contemporary kitchen. Decorative ceilings and traditional furnishings add character, while modern appliances and contemporary bathrooms provide everyday comfort. French doors open onto a wide stone terrace for outdoor dining beneath the trees.
Two super king bedrooms on the ground floor each have an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. A third super king bedroom on the first floor has an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and a separate walk-in shower.
